Dale Short

Hi, I’m Dale—a lifelong builder with a passion for creating both hardware and software.

After a decade of building hardware professionally, I decided to pivot in 2022 by attending The Recurse Center where I focused full-time on software development. Those three months solidified my transition into my new career path as a software developer.

In my home machine shop , I focus on designing innovative, life-changing adaptive equipment for people with disabilities. It’s where I feel most inspired, continually exploring new possibilities in personal mobility.

Among my favorite hardware creations outside of work is this transport rack for my Bowhead Reach adaptive mountain bike that doubles as a transfer lift. On the software side I’m particularly proud of a custom business management system I developed for Norma’s Ice Cream. This system automates a weekly ice cream lottery complete with text notifications, Square payments, and a dynamic order status tracking dashboard.
